The Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery/Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting, whose name is shortened to MICS CABG (pronounced &mix cabbage”) has been developed and perfected since 2005 by none other than Dr. Joseph McGinn.

Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery Enables 96 Year Old Patient to Have a Successful Aortic Valve Replacement
NEW YORK, May 2010—Mr. Nicholas Roberto, born in New York on May 22 1913, was admitted to the emergency room of the Staten Island University Hospital on March 26, 2010 after he began suffering shortness of breath and chest tightness. During his evaluation, he was found to have gastrointestinal bleeding which led the doctor to discover that he had colon cancer. He required colon surgery but could not undergo the surgery because of his heart condition: Aortic Stenosis. His risk factors made him ineligible for traditional surgery, but minimally invasive surgery made it possible.

Dr, Wiencek, trained under Dr. McGinn in Janurary and has put Abner back into the ballroom. Abner Aboyo lives life to the bouncy six- and eight-count beat of West Coast swing. Ballroom dancing is not only his passion, it’s his profession which is why he called his doctor the day that teaching swing lessons left him breathless. A series of tests showed that Abner had suffered a minor heart attack and that a life-threatening cardiac event was inevitable without surgical intervention to bypass – or reroute – blood around three severe blockages in his coronary arteries.
