Mitral Valve
In addition to TAVR Complex valve repair is a procedure most commonly performed for the mitral valve. The mitral valve, named for its resemblance to a mitre of a bishop, enables blood to circulate between the two left sided chambers of the heart. Damage to this valve, as a result of stenosis (restricted valve), Barlow’s or Prolapse (thickened or abnormally elongated leaflets) leads to valve dysfunction. Here repairs are most commonly performed to minimize risk of surgery and this technique yields the best outcomes.
